During the Summer of 2022 I travelled to Geelong and the coast of Phillip Island, where an early friend used to travel named Drew. New places to travel with friends named Brent and Rowan with a few others. There was a lot of scenery which reminded me of the 007 moments in the Bahamas. Views of the ocean with beach sand, and surfers with sunlight. Highlight of the vacation was staying the night at San Remo with Fish and Chips, near the location of the Hemsworth Brothers known for Thor and drama action films.

James bond is a classic film starring Daniel Craig as the 007 agent. There are many action sequences in the new film released in cinemas during November 2021. Also an interesting fact my grandfather was an athlete in the Olympics competing with Rafer Johnson who featured as an actor in a bond film during the 1980s.

As a hobby I developed an interest in photos during 2012 with the first camera of Canon 5D Mark III the following year. I commenced study with Photography Studies College in February 2014. I have learnt there are many forms and methods of photography. Henry Cartier Bresson and Harry Benson are inspirational photographers. There are images posted of a kayaker during the harbour sunset, double exposure of colourful library books, Ibis bird in flight with rainbow colour & a tropical rainforest landscape.

The Transformers film trilogy was directed by Michael Bay with Spielberg’s spectacular production of cinematography effects with robot machines. Main cast with Shia Labouef as Sam Witwicky as the lead role. It was a success during the 2010s with positive reviews. It was nominated for three awards at the Oscars for its visual effects. Transformers is a film I remember seeing twice in the cinemas when first released in 2007. It was a reboot from the original series about transformer autobots. I remember seeing a friend I once knew in the past during the premiere of Revenge of the Fallen in 2009. It was a classic for the generation growing up in my 20s. I designed my commodore similar to the Camaro from the film during the box office trilogy. Dark of the Moon was less impressive on release with the replacement of actress Megan Fox to Rosie Huntington as Carly.

Tommy Lee Jones is an American actor born on September 15 during the 20th Century. During the academy awards he won best supporting actor starring as Samuel Gerard in the Warner Brothers film the Fugitive with Harrison Ford co-starring as a Doctor. Raised in Texas, his mother was a retail shop owner and his father was an oil field employee. Jones attended Harvard University graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English with study on the mechanics of the Catholicism. Also, a star as an athlete with guard position with Harvard football team being 6”1 and 91kg in weight.

First moving to New York for a Broadway start with entry roles, he was successful with the Golden globes first in 1980. Tommy Lee was later famous for roles, Men in Black film trilogy as agent Kevin Brown, the Client (1994), Batman Forever as Harvey Dent, Space Cowboys (2000) teaming up with Clint Eastwood, Double Jeopardy (1999) with Ashley Judd, more recently with Ad Astra (2019) co-starring Brad Pitt and Jason Bourne (2016) with similar appearance as Samuel Gerard.

Interestingly I came across a photographer similar to Tommy Lee Jones at a photo walk with the Melbourne Camera Club, grumpy at times but intelligent. He commented in an interview, movie cameras are higher resolution with advanced lighting methods in modern times. Currently Brad Pitt is a similar actor with new films in the 2010s. Tommy is a polo player and a horse rider residing in a large acre ranch near San Antonio.

Indiana Jones stars Harrison Ford as the fictional archaeology professor with a PHD qualification, the famous movie trilogy began in 1981 with Raiders of the Lost Ark. It won box office records with near 10/10 perfect reviews from journalist writers. Originally created by George Lucas and Steven Spielberg with Lucasfilm. A new film is in development with original moments as the early Indiana Jones, still with an unknown title. There are many relic artefacts including the Grail cup of Jesus of Nazareth during the last supper. Novels have been produced from the years, interestingly I have been to the place where Harrison Ford walked into the doors at the Rivoli Cinemas in Camberwell. With the fedora and whip he is a powerful character engaging with Nazis and Russian agents during the films. The Scotsman Sean Connery is known as Indiana Jones’ father who recently lived to the age of 90.

Bill Gates is known for founding and creating the Microsoft Corporation with the current operating system Windows and other software development. Currently one of the richest people during 2021 reached $144 Billion worth of shares. Retiring from Microsoft in 2008 he focuses more on philanthropy helping charities and educational organisations helping people in third world countries. Attending Harvard University he interestingly did not graduate and became friends with Steve Ballmer to co-found Microsoft, he was said to be a genius with computers during early education.

Jurassic Park is said to be one of the greatest film trilogies of all time. It tells a story about the discovery of Dinosaurs among scientists. An original from Universal pictures, first created by Steven Spielberg, it first establishes from a theory that DNA samples from mosquito bites creates life of clone dinosaurs in zoo laboratories during modern times. During the films the dinosaurs are created with visceral CGI or from character other methods . A total of six films have been produced over the past 30 years. Richard Attenborough features as John Hammond in the original movie with Sam O’Neill as Dr Alan Grant. Overall a definite watch for science fiction fans.

King’s quest VI Heir Today gone tomorrow is a great game I have completed, enjoyable from the introduction to completion in the castle. Developed with Sierra in 1992 written and produced by Roberta Williams, it is a point and click adventure with cinematography elements. It has a classic VGA graphics interface was developed from creative artists and programmers. The actor Robby Benson voiced Prince Alexander the main character in the game who interesting was auditioned for the role of Luke Skywalker in the original Star Wars film.

Other notable characters in the film are Pawn shop owner, the Ferryman and Captain Saladin which guide Alexander throughout his quest to reunite with the royal family and Princess Cassima.  There are interesting moments with Bill Ratner as the Narrator speaking about moments and encounters with Alexander among the different locations of the land of the green isles. There are different puzzles quests with cryptic codes at the Isle of the Mountain. The menu interface has inventory options for interaction with classic walk and talk options similar to Monkey Island.

The Isle of the Crown is the main island on the magic map given to Alexander in trade during the adventure which has an Arabian theme. Isle of Wonder has magical gnomes which all have different senses reacting from inventory items. The Isle of the Sacred Mountain is inspired from ancient mythology and religion. Isle of the Beast however has a deep forest environment, with ice lettuce required to cool the warm pond for Alexander to cross passage. The last and hidden isle of mists is occupied by the druid tribesmen.
Overall, I would recommend this classic adventure game, interesting dialogue and colourful visual backgrounds similar to early cinema from decades ago. A reboot was recently developed portraying his father King Graham. Enjoyable as a 2D video game with greater elements than modern titles.

Secret life of Walter Mitty was first available in cinemas Boxing day 2013. It is a story about a photography assets employee starring Ben Stiller. The film starts with an introduction of Walter searching on a laptop with eHarmony for a partner, finding Cheryl Moldoff portrayed with Kristen Wiig. Continuing with the first appearance of Walter’s dream world moments on the train to his job at Life Magazine. There is a photographer Sean O’Connell who has a friendship in the film with Walter, sending him a package of a film negatives at the magazine company.

The film continues with moments in the company elevator with Walter imagining conversations and an elastic band action hero figure with motion from building windows. It interested to see the reactions of the cast when he returns back to real life in the film, some seem surprised or amused with his day dreaming. Walter’s boss in the film tells him to put a quote in a plague for his next job as a photo lab assets developer. A quote that would describe this film would read, ‘Escaping into dreams during work life is a fantasy’.

Cinematography of the film illustrates colourful environments in mountain ranges whilst keeping to the city and locations of Life Magazine editorial company. With different occasions photography and camera methods are shown in practice in Greenland with Sean O’Connell photographing a Leopard, also during photo lab scenes with film development at his workplace. Some additional cinema photography elements such as panning and camera motion are the only few areas missing with production. Overall I would score this film at 9 out of 10, a possible chance for best picture with the Oscars.

Polariod cameras are a type of film camera which develop a photography print after a photograph. The Polariod company founded the instant technology with other designers. Discovery was first from scientist Edwin Land who revealed the camera in 1948 around New York city. A similar darkroom method was invented twenty years earlier. Lomography, Leica, Fujifilm also have design different models of the polaroid instant film cameras.

I have always been interested by aviation and flight travel. Two of the best flight were to New Zealand (2015) and Central Australia in winter of 2019. There are several instruments in a flight cabin, including altimeter, vertical airspeed, artificial horizon and radio signal transmission. Pilots experience G forces in flight with adrenalin above the clouds. During this year I was fortunate to visit an aviation museum with flight cabin interiors. There is a new flight simulator available with Microsoft which gives a visceral flight experience. Favourite aviation movies would be Air Force One (1997) with Harrison Ford and the upcoming Top Gun Maverick (2021) with Tom Cruise.

One and Only Ivan streamed on August 21st with Disney+ due to cinemas being closed during the global news. It is a story about a Gorilla named Ivan who learns to paint, with Bryan Cranston acting as Mack, the circus owner in the film. He portrays a character who is nurturing and wise toward toward the Zoo characters, African bush elephant, a stray dog, Macaw parrot and a California Sea Lion with many others. A metaphor that would describe this film would read, ‘Gorilla painting in the jungle, the story of wildlife.’

Talking narrative is present throughout the film with other characters voiced by Sam Rockwell, Angelina Jolie, Danny DeVito, Helen Mirren, Brooklynn Prince and Ron Funches. Angelina Jolie and Danny DeVito have been notable performers in Batman Returns (1992), Lara Croft (2001), Man on the Moon (1999) and Space Jam (1996). It is well narrated with characters giving inflection similar to the intelligence of humans; research has discovered the intelligence of Gorilla species.

Painting artwork is first discovered by Ivan when he finds drawing utensils from George’s daughter. Early stages in the film Mack (Bryan Cranston) the Mall is transformed into a circus when the Gorilla’s talent is discovered. There is an understanding of the Gorilla being the King of the Jungle and leader among the other animals in the film. Principal photography for the film commenced in May 2018, with locations including a shopping centre, Catholic Church and areas of central United States.

Cinematography of the film gives colourful visuals, a treat for viewer, a desirable movie choice for a birthday event. There is wide angle and close up imagery of the characters in forest and circus locations. Panning and Dolly methods appeared not to feature in this film, perhaps elements which could have improved the production. I would score this film at 4 out of 5 stars. Entertaining film from start to finish, with effective use of voiceovers with CGI characters.

The rainbow lorikeet is a Parrot bird species. Scientific name is known as Trichoglossus Moluccanus. Lorikeets have feathers with a range of colours, they squirk and tweet differently to other birds communicating in its natural habitat, commonly around coastal rainforest locations. Also can be found in New Zealand and parts of Asian ecology locations. Different to their cousin the Amazon parrot they don’t talk similar to the intelligence of people.

There are different species of Lorikeets including Swainson , Lake Eyre (Trichoglossus moluccanus eyrei) and Northern Moluccan. Commonly they are found in flocks in eucalyptus trees, flying far distances also searching for food sources such as fruit and nectar. A medium size parrot, with a length from ten to twelve inches across. Lorikeets weigh from 75 grams doubling to one hundred and fifty. The head is a deep blue with a green to yellow colour combination, and the rest of the bird’s feathers are green. Visually there isn’t much difference between the male and females species of the Lorikeet.

First man is a film about astronauts flying to the Moon, during an Apollo mission by Steven Spielberg, with the actors Ryan Gosling, Claire Foy and Jason Clarke. The film starts with a documentary theme about the history of man on the moon, with riveting space craft sequences accompanied by an emotive and powerful soundtrack. It engages the audience with intrigue and wonder about life with space travel.

Lush lighting sequences are present throughout the film, with spectacular cinematography produced by fellow director Damien Chazelle. Ryan Gosling’s character Neil Armstrong, portrays the first man to walk on the Moon, with atmospheric background elements during travel. The film was inspired from the book First Man: The Life of Neil Armstrong written and published in 2005.

The most enjoyable moment of the film is when the craft lands on the moon, with the audience left in anticipation the astronauts are seen with vibration motion of the spacecraft, the flag is placed with the famous quote, ‘this is one small step for man, a giant leap for mankind’. The view of earth is visible from the location with footprints on the surface. When returning from earth the Apollo craft lands with a small amount of fuel in the Mojave desert in California.

Overall the film is full of action, interesting pilot cabin moments and a thrill ride to the finish, I would score this at 4.5 stars out of 5, perhaps not the perfect movie with some moments not accurate to the events of NASA space travel.

The Secret of Monkey Island is a graphical point and click adventure from Lucasfilm games. It is a story about the character Guybrush Threepwood who is on a quest to become a pirate in the carribean. There is comedy throughout the classic game with colourful visuals. There is an interface which gives a selection with inventory and interaction options. I would rate the game at 5 stars, enjoyable 30 years later after its first release.

Astronomy is a visual dream, looking into the night sky. Different location’s of astrophotography are at Gippsland, Central Australia and the Mornington Peninsula in Australia. Telescope photography was used for the Earth’s moon and the distant nebulae. It is known that the Southern Hemisphere is different to the north, with a vast amount of star constellations. Time-lapse footage shows the rotation of the Earth’s axis in motion during the evening.

Morning Glory is a film about the producer Becky Fuller who makes a start with a daybreak New York broadcast company. She is succeeded by the Journalist Mike Pomery who is comedically quarrelsome at times. The introduction of the film shows Becky at a restaurant in conversation with a romantic interest. As it progresses her family life and initial producer experience are portrayed with financial difficulty. It engages the audience with intrigue and enquiry into the industry of television producers.

Colourful visuals with depth are present throughout the film, visually attractive with cinematography elements, camera panning and time-lapse are produced from film director Roger Michell. Becky talks about semiotics, only having 3 years of study on her resume at interview with Jerry Barnes. The producer is delighted at the success of landing a job with daybreak.

The highlight of the film is when ratings are returned to an impressive high and the broadcast team are standing up applauding with a successful journalism story about a degraded Mayor. Becky Fuller’s character is intelligent, creative and is a winner on all fronts. It is difficult for the viewer to tell that she is acting throughout the film. I would score this film at 4 stars, perhaps not the standard for an Academy Award. It really tells the narrative of daybreak in New York, a multimedia news dream for the audience.

National Geographic magazine is a publication I have read for several years. It has examples of photography and scientific research. I aspire to publish photography work, such as a stalactite cave or a zoological piece about wildlife, creating writing which portrays narrative documentary for an audience. I’ve submitted assignments to National Geographic Your Shot, which is a variety of geographical photography, writing captions and keywords.

National Geographic covers topics about history, travel and news about geographic locations around the globe. It features cultural and social aspects of areas people live and has a range of topics from global warming, environmental, deforestation, animal wildlife and scientific writing. Agriculture and archaeology discoveries are credible information sources throughout the magazine. During early stages it was a text magazine publication, differing to scientific writing with a range of photographic content. Also covering environmental topics forces of nature, animals, ecosystems, astronomy and weather temperature.

The target audience is for all ages, with an interest in geography, history and archaeology with different publications about culture and locations around the world. There are different publications such as National Geographic Traveller and Nat Geo History magazine, attracting aboard different readers. National Geographic Magazine is translated into 38 different languages, including French, Russian and Arabic. It is informative, creating a visual story through words, captions and paragraphs. During the start of the month, the magazine is published.

Technology savvy, also recommends to get the photograph correct in camera rather than post production in Adobe Photoshop. He is inspired by photographers Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Capa and Steve McCurry, also involved with narrative and storytelling. As a creative feature of photography he experiments with double exposures and portraiture vignetting. When photographing he prefers a range of lenses between the range of 10mm to 140mm depending on the subject matter.

Royal Melbourne Hospital studio photographs an estimate of 3,000 patients each year, creating quality visual material which supports teaching, resources and publications. Optical Coherence Tomography is an example of photography illustration, also acting as a monitoring and examination apparatus. An interesting work experience placement as part of academic studies. Curtis Falls, located about 80km south of Brisbane, is a picturesque waterfall which is an area of rainforest. The rock structure around the waterfall is designed with basalt rock. This is an area which once had volcanic activity. During the evening glowworms are visible. There are distinctive piccabeen palm groves, wet eucalypt tree formations by forest gums and ferns in the rainforest. The plants provide important wildlife habitat in an area surrounded by urban and agricultural development. Mountain Tambourine hosts about 60% of plant species in the area. It is a popular tourist area for exploration.

Waitomo Caves are a tourist location located in the North Island of New Zealand, first discovered in the early 1900s. Approximately 500,000 tourists visit the cave structure each year. Stalactite caves consist of rock formations which are made from lava and minerals. They consist of the chemical calcium bicarbonate. Growth rate is about 1 millimetre each year. Stalactites derive from the Greek word, stalaktos. Stalactites are formations which hang from cave ceilings. Stalagmites are from the lower ground service in comparison. When joined together they are known as dripstone, also as speleothems with precipitation of water.

The Grotto is a geological formation and tourist attraction outside Port Campbell, depending on the weather, the rock formation is a perfect viewing area, with the
ocean water reflecting upon the surface. Waves break crashing the rock pools. A neighbouring location with a similar structure of limestone design is the 12 Apostles. It is an area of abandoned shipwrecks along the coastline, which tourists love to explore. It is a naturally carved cave which stands about halfway above the sea level. Cloudy days, sunrise and sunset are ideal times for photography in the area.

Phillip Island is an industrial farm area along coastline, which is about 10 kilometres wide. Farming and mining, are agricultural features of this area. There is history of a shipwreck that occurred 100 years ago, which delivered cattle. The Hemsworth brothers hale from this area. About 150km south east of Melbourne, quality soil, wood and the discovery of coal were located nearby at Cape Woolamai. Phillip Island is visited by about 3 million people each year, about two thirds of the island is devoted to farm life of sheep and cattle.

Located in the city of bayside, Brighton beach houses are a popular attraction, there are 82 in total across the beach area, they are unique. With one dimensional architectural features with timber framing and iron roofs. Approximately 100 years old, they remain the same as when they were first built. There are nearly 2000 bathing boxes, and similar boat sheds in the Port Phillip Bay area. As a feature of another time period, they provide a cultural and historical significance. With their different colour and light variations they are an Art which the public can enjoy.

Life as a Jack Russell can be interesting at times, a dog like no other, Bingo the dog enjoys walking, running with birds and barking with other neighbourhood animals. Adventuring in parks and gardens during walks he shows an instinctive personality. Having a capacity to run upto 40 kilometres per hour, could run a 100m sprint race at approximately 8 seconds, faster than Olympic champion Usain Bolt. A neighbourhood friend of Bingo’s is a Carin Terrier which barks through an opening in the fence. Much like people he gives emotions and interacts with other species of animals. Bingo often makes discoveries of birds in natural locations.

The Queen Victoria Market was established during early stages of the development of Melbourne. It has been a provider for the public for more than 100 years. The marketplace is a significant fresh produce location in Australia. There are approximately 500 business owners at the market with clothing, produce, fruit and vegetables. Early stages the location was once a livestock market during development. The Hay Market was the first development of the market on the corner of exhibition and Collins Street. The Queen Victoria is Melbourne’s largest marketplace, with a vast national history. It is listed on Historical buildings register of Australia. The meat stall was renovated in the 1970’s, with a large variety of vibrant market stores for customers. Fresh produce business stalls include Garden Organics, Berries corner, Gunday’s Fruit & Vegetables, Invita, Market Juice, Liquid Gold and the Apple Corner. Vic Meat supply is a business trader at the produce section of the market. Also in operation for 20 years. A supplier for Australian barbeques. Terry and Catherine are the trading owners also providing pork, silverside and steaks. The Meat supply website appears more professional with photography with elements of depth of field with close up detail of produce.

The environment was vibrant with colours of fruit and vegetables. Different areas of the market were explored including the fishmonger, deli, produce and other café locations with musicians. During the Wednesday night I was able to visit to Hawker market which had atmosphere with crowds of people at dining tables, establishing a introductory shot of the Market entrance with a slow motion effect.

On a country farm, there were several farm animals, reared by a family of farm workers, located in a rural area in the countryside of Melbourne. Walking into the farm, the weather was wet, gloomy and grey. Different weather effects were noticeable, with motion of rain around the farm. Walking into an open paddock there were farm cattle, with a rusted piece of farm machinery, telling a story about farm life in the area.

The farm cattle were slow to move, across grass and haystacks, looking into the distance. Exploring the areas of the farm, there were areas for harvesting wood, eggs for roosters and chickens. A farmer holding two vegetables from the harvesting area was seen in the chicken shed collecting eggs. The Roosters were slow to respond with different directions of moment. The son of the Farmers, was seen starting a tractor, pondering in to the distance, about what the day had ahead, fernery and a shed were visible in the background. A story was building with a farmer, wearing a pair of gloves with a helmet, collecting wood with the use of machinery around the area. Working on a project in a distant shed, a hammer was in motion, with various objects in the area. A farmer greeting dogs as farm animals, represented the end of a day. I was satisfied with the family of farmers expressing their lifestyle, as a photography story.

It was a cold spring afternoon central place in the city of Melbourne, the 12th of October at 1pm in the afternoon. People walk in directions in conversation, with dense areas of restaurants, bars and cafes with waiters interacting with customers. Signs are visible with a variety of food selection including pizza, vegetarian meals, cuisine food and a range of wines and drinks.

Men and women of a range of ages are present during the vibrant laneway in the afternoon. The outer public are active, walking, exercising or dining at tables and chairs, also interacting with mobile phone technology. Central place is a laneway with cafes and restaurant in the City of Melbourne. Also with features of street artwork and wall paintings. It is a significant place for public access near flinders street station, it is located between Collins and Flinders laneways. There is an assortment of colours and detail among the environment of laneway. There are some people living in residencies above the restaurants.

Initially it had different name at the turn of the century with toilets and industrial buildings at the location. It is a popular destination with tourists and the outer public. Organisations advertise around Collins Street as it’s in the middle of the city. Walking through the central place laneway, a well-known café named Lorca has a delectable selection of food with breakfast options and the option to sit outdoors. There is an atmosphere of industrial gastronomy culture, with the voice of customer inquiries and bird species collecting food from the surface of the bitumen laneway. There are approximately 1,000 visitors during the afternoon around the café laneway. It was evidently a peaceful and populated environment. It is similar to other locations in the city, including the Block arcade and Collins place.

From an early age Rowan Kelly always enjoyed music and the sound of the piano. He had lessons during primary school and jazz music was an inspiration. His favourite artists were Duke Ellington, Nat King Cole and Ella Fitzgerald. He had 4 years in total of musical lessons, been playing since for 35 years. When playing the piano he finds it conveys a sense of accomplishment. The musical song ‘Unforgettable’ which was produced in 1951 and was inducted into the Grammy hall of fame in the year 2000, tells a story for him which is happy, reminiscent and dream like reflecting personality.

Cooking each day is fulfilling for Rowan. He finds it challenging at times with a joy factor, enjoys sharing with others with a sense of appreciation. Curry is one of the favourite meals and enjoys the technical aspect of cooking, expressing ‘there is more to it than it seems’. It involves a cooking style, seen as inspiration with a combination of different flavours. He researches recipes which are recommended from the Internet with the use of home grown produce, such as parsley, lime, mandarin, mint, chilly, spring onion, lemon, quoting ‘fresh is best’. He describes cooking as a process with a level of attainment which is thorough and doesn’t take short cuts. Works from a recipe with base and formation from different stages.

A day of gardening for Rowan is fulfilling with a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment. Encompasses hard work with results, enjoys a variation of colour with a sense of balance in the garden. For personality he believes gardening stimulates the senses, which stresses of life are released. Petunias and pansies are his favorite plants. Rowan brings elements of structure and formality when growing produce in the garden.

As for religion he believes in discipleship, that God has created purpose and meaning in life, he helps and guides people. The right way of living, develops life skills from the Christian bible. Teaches how to live, how God would want us to live. He attends the Winepress Church every Sunday. Quoting the mantra ‘Love God, Love Others, making a difference’ and believes there is a unique feature with each personality. As for public speaking he likes to avoid the stage, encourages people and gives understanding. Has acceptance with people, gives them a hope and a future. First became religious during early stages of Primary School, from prayer about the Lord’s Supper with his mother Rosemary.

Each day is viewed as a day of opportunity for Rowan, speaking to others about the philosophy of life, also showing empathy toward others with a pleasant personality. Each day is seen as a gift, with a positive attitude showing appreciation and gratitude to others. Quoting ‘I make small choices for great results, persevering over long periods for gradual changes.’ Currently he lives with his wife Meryl and a pet cat named Ivy in Berwick Springs.

The Hobbit Desolation of Smaug is a story about Bilbo Baggins on a journey with Gandalf the Wizard and 13 dwarfs on an adventure to reclaim the lost kingdom of Erebor. The introduction of the film communicates an interview with the Wizard Gandalf, which is engaging with emotion for the audience. Gathered around tables, the dwarfs are involved in discussion. An early feature of wolf creatures appear daunting in a mountainous forest area, which provokes a reaction from the audience. The Hobbit Village is the residence of Martin Freeman’s character Bilbo Baggins, where the dwarfs appear in conversation around tables. An area which depicts the introduction to the Lord of the Rings series.

Lush scenery throughout the film appears visually attractive with cinematography, with a variation of angles and camera panning from director of Photography Andrew Lesnie. The best scene of the film is the barrel sequence. Bilbo and the dwarves ride down river in wine barrels, Director Peter Jackson has them chased by both Orcs, Legolas and Tauriel, who finds themselves protecting from enemies. The character Legolas played by Orlando Bloom had some recognizable moves and skills from the original Lord of the Rings Trilogy, which can be seen in The Desolation of Smaug.

Villain Orcs which appear throughout The Hobbit, illustrate with dark and eerie backgrounds speaking in a language which is translated as a Hobbit Dialect. The Hobbit brings a sense of nostalgia from the Lord of the Rings series, in comparison it tells a story different way which isn’t quite as inspired as the Lord of The Rings. It is based on the original novel The Hobbit from J.R.R Tolken, which was first published on September 21, 1937 and was award a prize for best fiction narrative.

Ian McKellen acts as the Wizard Gandolf, and Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins the dwarf adventurer. They act the most significant roles in the move, with Ian McKellen showing a wise, influentially noble character, as a leader for the dwarfs. Martin Freeman’s character appears to wonder, almost lost for thought in personality at times, however performs well in action scenes. There appears to be an element of bravery with balance of humor and drama in Bilbo’s character. The film appears to be unpredictable at times for the audience.

It is an adventurous story which is a definite improvement from its predecessor An Unexpected Journey, it is an inspired storyline creating interest for the viewer with exploration and an energetic fast paced narrative sequence. There is a sense of suspense between, Hobbit dwarves and Orcs, hero and villain combat which leaves the audience guessing. The storytelling from the Novel of J.R.R Tolken appears to be on a different tone with the trilogy. A recommended watch for any cinema audience, not visually over affected by visual effects or CGI, The Hobbit Desolation of Smaug is sure to surprise, a visual treat, a movie nearly 3 hours in length which engages the audience all the way through the film.
