My favourite medium has always been physical: the texture of paper, the weight of the pencil, the sound of the insanely sharp point scratching the paper.

Pencil comes in different hardnesses, and give a freedom most pens can't achieve. I can be sketchy, I can be fuzzy, I can be precise. Just choose the lead and sharpen as much as needed.
