A Tradition of Partick, reimagined.
Deoch an Dorus (Gaelic for ‘one for the road’) is a traditional bar based in the Partick area of Glasgow. With the introduction of craft beers and a variety of new spirits including a huge range of gins and whiskies, the business was looking to expand its customer base to include a 'trendier' demographic whilst being careful not to alienate its long-standing clientele.

Stckmn was commissioned to reimagine the bar from the ground up. From a new coat of arms, brand identity with assets, to customer touchpoints including coasters, bar runners, menus and marketing materials. A redesign of the exterior of the bar including signage, window graphics and concept for staff uniforms was also produced.

With the promise of a great atmosphere, quality food, and a selection of local drinks, Deoch an Dorus adopted the ‘Tradition of Partick’. The area has a long tradition of conviviality, in the 1800’s it served as a stopover for drovers traveling from the West Highlands to Glasgow. There’s an old tale that a group of esteemed Glaswegians who visited the area every Saturday to be fed roast duck and drink local brews formed ‘The Duck Club of Partick’. According to folklore, the ducks grew fat, succulent, and perhaps most importantly, slow, due to a combination of opportunistic thievery and the poorly guarded grain mills bordering the Kelvin. It seemed only fitting that the duck, grain, and ale should remain a feature within the coat of arms to celebrate these traditions.
