Rafael Anton Irisarri live in Berlin 2021
Lately, I have been researching the work of Franco Grignani, an Italian designer that did a lot of work that feels similar to what we consider Optical Art today. My goal was to design something abstract that could reference his own work and, at the same time, give a visual representation of Rafael Anton Irisarri music.

I started by looking at some of his work and trying to understand how he designed this type of work, and I failed utterly to understand how did he do it without a computer. After overcoming this personal failure, I tried to use some moire effect to find something interesting.

This is the poster I did for a Rafael Anton Irisarri concert here in Berlin. His music is abstract and filled with layers, so I thought this style would match his theme.

I tried a different approach at first, but I wasn't happy with the results. So I changed the scale and tried something else. Below you can see the first versions and the final one I like the most.
