This mini publication is a small literary experience that is enhanced by design. The fox design is inspired by the explorative and playful short story, The Encyclopaedia of Wild Things by Madeline Bailey, from Black Inc.’s publication of Australian short stories 2017.
It includes a fox design cover enclosing the internal pocket pages that contains sticker sheets. Each element aims to represent the themes of each sections of the story.
The colours chosen aims to reflect combination of the story's child-like symbolism as well as the mature target audience. The pages are also designed similarly to an encyclopaedia with tags and large font indicating the main topic.
This project was my introduction to publication. Through the explorative theme of the story, the final design outcome was able to include several publication techniques including diecut, kisscut, guillotine cut, sadle stitching and press ready spot colour artworks.

The tail of the fox required several trial and errors for it to securely enclose the book. But in the end, it became a unique solution and highlight of the whole project.
