Mini Publication from the classic work “A Study in Scarlet” with a new visual interpretation design of the story.
The Brief
To design a mini publication that will offer a sample from a classic work of fiction in the public domain in an entertaining printed format. The design must demonstrate a new visual interpretation of the story.
The classic work chosen was, as the title said, Sherlock Holmes: A Study in Scarlet by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
The Concept
The mini publication is focusing on the first 3 chapters of the book and the conclusion of the case at the end of the book.
Focusing on ‘study in scarlet’ and its relationship with Dr. John Watson’s view and his journey and feelings of meeting Sherlock Holmes for the first time. It is like Dr. Watson trying to ‘study’ or in this case ‘solve the mystery’ of Holmes himself and later the case (both are the ‘scarlet’).
The Solution
Using the mix of scarlet and other red colours and sometimes a neutral cream colour and making them as an abstract liquified visuals that represent Watson’s complicated feelings.
