Plastic2Beans is a German zero-waste company that uniquely combines a plastics recycling start-up with a specialty coffee brand. Their ambitious goal is to create a sustainable, nationwide plastics recycling industry in Ethiopia by supporting local governments. 

To this end, they are actively providing knowledge, materials, and funding to build the country's first true plastics recycling factories. Since the local currency fluctuates greatly in value on the world market, but Ethiopia is rich in excellent coffee, the Plastic2Beans team has come up with an ingenious solution: get paid in delicious coffee beans. 

By selling the directly traded specialty coffee in stores, cafes and supermarkets across Europe, Plastic2Beans funds the company's mission in return. It also means you can enjoy the most delicious cup of coffee with maximum sustainable impact.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Colorful illustrations of Ethiopian landscapes at different times of day to visualize the diversity of flavors and connect the brand to the country of origin of its mission. The bright and vibrant color palette borrows from the lively Ethiopian culture and national flag, while also embodying plastic visual characteristics.

The brand's "Impact Coffee" is sold either in innovative coffee bags deliberately made from a new mono-plastic material that is 100% recyclable, or in glass containers that can be returned to the existing German bottle deposit system. All in the spirit of less plastic waste and a closed recycling loop.
