Eye of the Lens - Monothematic Publication

Inspired by horror, anxiety and phenomenology, this Monothematic publication expresses the ideas and themes within an essay written by Matthew J. Raimondo from York University.

The article examines a contemporary subgenre of horror cinema that appropriates the aesthetics of observational documentary. In the films discussed, the camera exists in the diegesis; the camera is usually controlled by a character and is meant to move in a way that plausibly represents how this person would handle it if the situation were real.

Motivated by this, hidden circles within the text is designed specifically to represent the camera lens always examining and observing in the first person.

Project developed as part of a Publication Design Project assessment for Swinburne University of Technology.
