국립현대미술관 〈DMZ 극장 — 수르야 × 정연두〉 전시 도록, 타이틀 디자인
'DMZ 극장 ― 수르야 × 정연두'은 DMZ 주변 13개의 전망대를 2017년부터 계절마다 50여 차례 방문해 촬영한 사진을 바탕으로, 군인들의 인터뷰, 전망대에 얽힌 이야기 등을 전시와 퍼포먼스로 확장한 다원예술 프로젝트입니다.
군사분계선으로부터 남북으로 각각 2km의 지대인 비무장지대를 디자인 콘셉트로 하여, 그래픽이 일정 간격을 두고 대칭을 이루도록 디자인했습니다. 책의 자켓에는 DMZ의 풍경을 담았으며 표지는 친환경 종이에 인쇄없이 형압만 진행해 순수함을 강조했습니다. 도록에서 전시와 퍼포먼스 섹션을 구분하기 위해 배경색과 종이에 차이를 주었으며, 무겁고 진지한 인상을 주지 않도록 글꼴과 포인트 색상을 지정했습니다.
Exhibition Book and Title Design for 〈DMZ Theater ― Surya × Jung Yeondoo〉 in National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea(MMCA)
'DMZ Theater ― Surya × Jung Yeondoo' is an interdisciplinary art project that bases on photographs taken by visiting 13 observatories around the border of the Korean demilitarized zone (DMZ) over 50 times every seasons since 2017 and presents soldiers' accounts, the narratives in the area as exhibitions and performances.
The design concept is the DMZ which extends 2 km to the South and the North from the Military Demarcation Line. So, graphics are symmetrically designed at regular intervals. A photograph of the DMZ scenery is on the book jacket. The book cover was only embossed without printing on eco-friendly paper to emphasize its cleanness. In the book, different background color and paper were used to distinguish the exhibition and performance sections. And the font and point color were assigned so that they don’t make a heavy and serious impression.
