Stuck Together - Forever
To start off with, I wanted to focus on an interaction of sticking together and feeling connected with my family. I looked into different reptiles and amphibians and how they can stick to different surfaces and the science, patterns and details behind it.
Moving away from the patterns, I wanted to look into the main form of my design. Focusing on my final concept of a 'skills and memory projector' for the main purpose of passing the Orb down the family generation and having a solid bases that are located around the Cabins and Educational Centre of the EarthShip. I wanted to find a harmony between the 'base' and the 'connector' before refining the base and connector into jewellery.
Keeping my idea's simple to allow for the projection of Skills and Memories to be at the forefront of my design
I really want to progress on with mainly Concept 2 with potentially parts of concept 3. I feel this will allow me more freedom in how I can use my families stories and how the orb can project them with minimal disruption.
From my of my inspiration, I wanted to consider the connection and interaction between the orb and the base to how Lizards attach to different surfaces
From my understanding of how the locking action works, I want to create this connection through the physical form, and also testing out whether or not the patterns I discovered early on could also be part of it.
Should also consider what patterns are already on Lizards & Frog feet and what has made these patterns successful in its sticking motion
I really like the direction I am going in for concept three. I think being able to have different options embedded in the base would give myself - as the current generation - more control on what skills & memories could go into each section instead of having every in one slot for my future generations to view.
Now that I have a really solid direction that my design is going in, I need to consider the scale and how the overall projection works - whether it projects onto the wall or is used in relation to Holodeck in the EarthShip.
For the next step in my develop, I want to work more on the orb itself. The current form is just a material surface so I want to create the same appearance but embedded in the form.
During this process, I was also considering making the exterior surface as bumpy as the interior. However, I really wanted to show through my family how the stories and memories aren't always visible, Someone else can see sections and internal ridges but of it but isn't fully revived until it is connected to the base which is the wearer decision to share these memories and skills or not.
