CYBER
Cyber-jewelry for on-ear headphones / 2021

Today, humanity often thinks about the future and creates all sorts of options for new technologies, which leads to a futuristic style in architecture, industrial design and so on. However, a human also needs a connection with nature, which he is trying to preserve and introduce into architecture, design, art and another spheres.

Therefore, this project has become a kind of experiment. A combination of cyber technology in the form of jewelry for headphones and nature as an environment.

PROBLEM

The idea for such an experiment appeared spontaneously. Overall, there are not many decorations for on-ear headphone today. As a result, it became interesting for me to customize them and create jewelry that could be removed from them and put back on.
IKEUCHI Hiroto is a Japanese artist who creates such complex designs. His work is the main reference and point of departure. The artist's creations are integral. They cannot be removed from the base, namely the headphones. Moreover, they are quite impressive in size.

process of creation

- The first important questions that appeared in this project. What are the safe areas of the on-ear headphones? Where can I wear jewelry?
- Two main areas were identified - the top of the headphone arch and above the speakers. In these places, most likely there will be no mechanisms.
- The second challenge was to design a jewelry clasp for attaching to headphones.
- The first option is separate clips on which the jewelry will be glued. But later it was decided not to use this option, because It is much easier and more practical to make a fastener on jewelry.
It was thought that they would be in those safe areas.

- Based on these research, the final models and sketches for them were developed.

3D-MODEL

- Designed Jewelry can be attached to two safe areas (top and side of the headphones).
- The 3D model is not only the technical side of the project, which was used to print products, but also a conceptual one. It is the basis for promoting and getting to know the project.

printed model

- After modeling in 3D programs, it was decided to print a real prototype on a 3D printer.
- For this, ABS plastic was used.
