Terrence, Mzi - we shared many an adventure, we fought, disagreed and got into trouble together. We took chances and for six years were official National Arts Festival photographers together. We shot the ANC's centenary in Bloemfontein, with more models than I care to remember, early morning beach shoots and late night VPC shoots for Just Models. World-class seven tournaments in George, operated with little or no sleep, drank coffee…oh yes the coffee was a thing. Neither of us drank alcohol.
We could never decide who was the better photographer — but I will gladly give you that title for one more photoshoot with you. We attended countless boxing matches and shebeens in Mdantsane or Sangoma ceremonies in Kei Road. And the many, many music festivals or music videos.
For those who never got to stand next to this wonderful character, I'm sorry because he would have enriched your life with stories, sheer gutsy adventures and mischievous humour. RIP Mr Mtola, we often disagreed with each other but I never stopped believing you were my brother.
A giant has fallen and may everyone remember him for the talent he was.
