After visiting the amazing gardens of Meise (Belgium), I decided to make an illustration of my visit. The big Greenhouse in the middle of the gardens is full of rare and exotic plants. The pond is filled with the giant lily that originates from Bolivia. These giant water lily pads are so big and strong that they can cary the weight of a small infant!  🇧🇴

After taking lots of reference pictures I started out with a very basic composition and started to play a bit more with the colours (see below). I finally settled on the second colour palette.

After securing the colours I started to fill out my frame a bit more. I wanted to put the focus on the giant lilies and the glass dome of the greenhouse. Some things have been taken out, other have been changed. The final step was my favourite: adding textures and play for the last time with the colours to add depth and vibrance.
