VON & ZU BUCH – BOOK SHOP IDENTITY

I recently opened my own book store connected to Café Mainheim in Nürnberg. The assortment covers books that are especially well made.

The name VON & ZU BUCH plays with how people used to call me “Herr Von und Zu”, because of my last name. The German words “von” and “zu” also mean “from me to you” – I pick special books and you can enjoy them.

The horizontal line in the minimal logo resembles one of the little book shelves in the shop.
The ampersand can be used as a secondary logo and contains the forms of the letters V and Z from the name.
The VON & ZU BUCH shop window with an inside view of the book wall and the connected Café Mainheim.
Promotional stickers – “Lies” in German means read. The English double meaning enables people to use it in several ways.
The retail wall is designed by Atelier VM architects from Innsbruck. Each book is placed on a little shelf that is mounted on the metal wall with magnets. That way the display can be changed now and then and the number of books shown can vary.

The bright wall reminds of a gallery wall showing artworks. In this case books are shown – as precious and beautiful as artworks.
