Over 50 artists have come together to save the London Chinese Community Centre... with tea.
The @communitea.fund project I’m a part of is live! Myself and 54 other awesome artists have created prints inspired by Asian culture. Prints are available from Roomfifty with all profits going towards saving the the London Chinese Community Centre.
Due to the pandemic, millions of organisations have been put on their knees. This coupled with a frightening spike in anti-East and Southeast Asian hate has faced the LCCC, the first of its kind in London, with permanent closure. A diverse group of creatives have come together to help by creating The Communitea Shop. An online, tea-themed art platform in collaboration with Roomfifty to raise money for the LCCC.

"First created by East Asian diasporic communities in California over a century ago, the fortune cookie has become its own hybrid ritual after a meal in Chinatown. It even has an emoji, but for me, it holds particular significance through the memories of meals shared together with friends. I love the anticipation of cracking open this sweet, crunchy confection before reading its prophetic message inside. Those few words are playful, uplifting, and never fail to make me smile. The character ‘想’ signals a wish, to think, to want, transforming the blessing for a friendlier, hopeful future."
