This is the third and final remake of an older animation which was an assignment given to me by my school. This time, the obstruction was "Inverted".

I had already remade my original animation 2 times; first it was "Texture" and then "Mirroring". For this remake I knew I wanted to play around with the idea of rearranging the elements of the character to make him inverted. With less time to finish this week I skipped the moodboard and instead drew a quick mindmap.

ANIMATING

Unlike the other remakes, I knew I had to go back and edit the original animation file for this one. I couldn't just put effects on top of it if I wanted to rearrange his head, arms, feet and so on. When I first opened the old after effects file I was faced with this:
Fortunately, I located all the missing files and I was good to go. I animated the character's head as his shoe, and his shoes as his head. I switched the colors of his shirt and pants, and I placed his beanie on top of the shoe. I also experimented with an effect I learned from the previous remake, the Mirror effect. It created this interesting fella:
EDITING

After finishing the animation part, I began editing. I was a little unsatisfied with the animation, thinking it was a bit too similar to the original. With editing I tried to spice it up a little by reversing the soundtrack and adding inverted colors every time the "switch" occurred.
FINAL REMAKE
REFLECTION

This week felt different compared to the others in a lot of ways. First of all we had a lot less time to finish our projects, and I felt that it was hard to reinvent my original animation for the third time. I would have appreciated an extra 24 hours to finish all the details.
Having said that, I think it was a challenging obstruction to work with, and I liked the path I went with. This has been 3 educational weeks and I have thought a lot about my process when working on projects, especially how to get inspiration and experiment with new things.
