$40,000 Donation Will Fund Technology Upgrades for SIUF

A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Matt Kupec has held fundraising leadership positions through which he has helped generate more than $5 billion in contributions. Currently, Matt Kupec leads the Southern Illinois University Foundation as chief executive officer, an organization he joined in 2018.

Established in 1942, the SIU Foundation assists the university in pursuing long-term goals through the solicitation of gifts, the investment and management of funds, and the distribution of funds for educational and charitable purposes. Recently, the foundation accepted a donation from Mark and Laura Ford, who pledged $40,000 to the SIU College of Business and Analytics. The gift will help fund technology upgrades for the Saluki Student Investment Fund (SSIF), a program that provides students with practical experience in investment research and portfolio management.

Modeled after actual investment firms, the SSIF allows students to research and trade stocks on an electronic trading platform. The donated funds will be used to upgrade all four of the SSIF’s terminals. Currently, SSIF manages approximately $2.7 million for the SIU Foundation.
