Strolling through the Daffodil Forest
I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Though this poem by the romantic poet William Wordsworth was penned down during his visit to the Cumbria District of The United Kingdom, it beautifully resonates with the Daffodil Forest in Lellingen, Luxembourg. Part of the Via Botanica trail, this forest is rendered quite desolate during the winters, but with the advent of spring, it witnesses the blooming of countless daffodils all over the forest.
Quite underrated as compared to the Hallerbos Forest in Belgium, the Keukenhof Tulip Fields in Netherlands and other forests which witness spring flowers in the neighbouring countries, I had never heard about this forest. I stumbled upon it while reading a blog about the aforementioned Hallerbos and got quite excited because of its proximity to where I stay. After performing an extensive search on the internet, I found the precise location and the trail map and looking at the pictures taken by some local photographers, I decided that I have to visit the place. But this decision actually took some time to materialise and it took a back seat in the plethora of places that I wanted to visit. Only after seeing some daffodils blooming in a garden near my house, it jolted back into memory and I went there the immediate next day, hoping that I was not too late. Thankfully, I was not. The daffodils were covering the forest ground for almost half of the trail with a narrow walkway running through a sea of these yellow bell-shaped flowers. The trail was every bit as mesmerising as mentioned in the blog and I ended up visiting the place again the next day.
Naturally, like always, I took a plethora of pictures - most of them not doing any justice to the sheer beauty of the forest. These are a few of my favourite ones. Hope you enjoy them.
