Project: Research two designers and combine their work into a cohesive calendar page. On the back, write a short essay about the designers and their work.

Solution: I chose Martin Venezky and Oliver Munday, two designers who work with both analog & digital methods to create beautifully collaged/illustrated book covers, magazine spreads, posters, and more. I imagine both designers with heaps of collected ephemera full of gorgeous type and images that they've collected over the years and will never let go of; in that way they would be very much like myself, which is why I like to think we're kindred spirits. I took their lead in collaging pieces together on the page and focusing on bold, interesting typography. In particular, I wanted the typeface I chose for the actual calendar dates, as well as some of the headings & pull quote on the essay page, to be reminiscent of letterpress wood type. Oliver Munday is currently the senior art director for The Atlantic, so I leafed through some recent issues for grid inspiration.
