Another Lip-Syncing Scandal - Dons of Disco

A partner at Franklin, Weinrib, Rudell and Vassallo, Steven C. Beer has served as counsel representing clients in a variety of areas of media law. In this role, Steven C. Beer has negotiated deals with major media players, including for the documentary Dons of Disco.

The documentary covers the lip-syncing controversy involving Stefano Zandri, a 1980s pop star also known as Den Harrow. At the height of his career, the pop singer became popular for European chart toppers such as Future Brain, Don't Break My Heart, and Bad Boy. However, 30 years later, American singer Tom Hooker says he was the voice behind the songs. Moreover, Hooker asserts that Zandri had been lip-syncing for decades.

Screened at the Slamdance Film Festival and jury award winner at 2019's Lighthouse International Film Festival, Dons of Disco was released through digital platforms Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, Apple TV, and others. The Mr. Beer and Anna Roberts of the Nacelle Company negotiated the distribution deal.
