Sleepless in Saarbruecken

Sleepless in Saarbruecken
Over the better part of the last two years, I have spent many a night roaming around the quaint little city of Saarbruecken with a camera and a tripod in hand.

Saarbruecken is the capital city of Saarland, the smallest state of Germany and is located in the country's south west bordering the Alsace and Lorraine regions of France and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

These are some of my favourite images from the plethora of pictures that I have captured over the last two years.
Starting with an image of the Ludwigskirche, the symbol of the city and also the most popular place to visit in Saarbruecken.
A view of the city of Saarbruecken with the Altebruecke (Old Bridge) over the river Saar connecting the Old and the New Towns.
The Schlosskirche standing tall, image taken from the aforementioned Altebruecke at the dead of night.
The Autobahn snaking alongside the Saar river with the Staatstheater on one side and the Thermal Power Station in the background.
Couple of friends looking at the captured images with the Staatstheater in the background.
A remnant of Germany's turbulent times. After the Berlin wall was broken, sections of it were sent to all the state capital cities as a reminder of their bleak history. These sections, much like the present remaining sections of the wall in East Berlin is covered in graffiti.
The Haus der Zukunft (House of Future) - the headquarters of the Energie SaarLorLux, which caters to the energy requirements of the residents of Saarland.
A solitary Christmas tree at the Saarbruecker Schloss (Palace). In normal circumstances, this square is teeming with people partaking in the celebrations and mulled wine.
A hut inside the Palace Grounds looking over the city of Saarbruecken and the Autobahn curving alongside the Saar river.
Sankt Johann - the central town square.
An elderly couple enjoying a leisurely evening walk through a beautifully decorated alley.
A tram going past with the Saarbruecken City Hall standing tall behind it.
Another alley lit only by two street lights, captured at the dead of night.
A view of one of the many pubs of the city through a park opposite to it.
A boat which doubles as a restaurant and a shisha bar docked on the river Saar.
Cars whooshing across one of the many bridges over the river Saar.
A landscape shot of a river island within the city limits.
Coming back to where I started, a shot of the Ludwigskirche with cars going past on both directions.

So, this is my take on Saarbruecken - my home for the past two years.
Thanks for Watching!
