Ferencz Emmer Palace

Illustration of the Ferencz Emmer Palace  built in 1907, CETATE edition 2020,
for Heritage of Timișoara - a project meant to promote the cultural heritage of a Romanian city Timișoara, frequently referred to as "Little Vienna". It was the first European city to introduce horse-drawn trams (in 1869) and electrical street lighting (in 1889).

Illustrations are meant to raise awareness on the importance of the built heritage protection and conservation, and encourage cultural tourism in the city’s historical neighborhoods. I wanted to give a story to these amazing buildings and inspire people to see the mystery in them and dig deeper into their story.

I play with form and color to convey mood. I like to use deformed perspective so I can incorporate more details that I like on a building into a given format. My favorite part is taking the parts of a building that I like, put them in a new light so that people can notice them as well.

The illustrations were printed on postal cards that were sent all over the world by random people to their friends or loved ones abroad or inside the country.
