Drawtober 2020
Drawtober is an October challenge among artists, where every year six topics are given on which artists need to do work within a month.
№1 “Carvings”
The idea came quite spontaneously, but it seemed to me that this is exactly what I needed. During the painting process, I realized that it was very similar to the 2008 movie "The Ruins". There is about a similar topic. Only instead of flowers I have pumpkin shoots. So, probably this is a kind of reference to what I looked at a long time ago :)
№2 “Wicked Apothecary”
This topic was most interesting to me when I first saw the list. Now of course they are all great, but this one still speaks to me.
So, I decided to depict a "portrait" and inside the shelf with goods. I wanted to add as many details as possible. I enjoyed the process a lot, and each item was like a small drawing in one big work for me.

№3 “Midnight Feast”
The first thing that came to mind about this topic was that there must be candles in the picture. Everything happens in the dark, and the light of the candles is reflected on everything.
№4 “Folklore”
Kelpie in Scottish mythology, a water spirit that is hostile to humans. They appear in the guise of a horse grazing by the water, giving the traveler their back, and then dragging him under the water. Sometimes, when the kelpie is angry, he tears his victim to pieces and devours it.
№5 “Ancient Rituals”
This time I wanted to do something simple, but at the same time pleasing to the eye. When I read in more detail about the foxglove (this is a flower that is drawn), I realized that this is what I need. In childhood, I always liked their appearance, although I knew that they were poisonous, so I tried not to touch them :)
№6 “Harvest Festival”
For this series of drawings, this was the first sketch, that I made, and all this time it was waiting for me and there were practically no changes in it.
It was very interesting and fun challenge. This allowed me to move away from my usual portraits and do something interesting and spooky. And this is like one of the stages that taught me something new.
