Book Covers - Antique Edition

For this college assessment I had to choose three classic book and design their covers. I chose to illustrate Sherlock Holmes, Three Musketeers and Pride and Prejudice.

I created a custom typeface, which is old-fashioned and therefore very suitable for these books. It uses a lot of ornaments and for that reason works very well with the themes of these novels. At first, I wanted to include an image - an illustration of the main character - but because the typeface is already decorative I decided not to. I also coloured the text black which - together with some emboss and shadow as well as a background image of an old paper - helped to create an impression of an antique book.

All of the covers have the very same layout, a same theme. The idea behind it was to make them look like a part of a unique - in this case antique - edition of books using a different and special design.
