AR Project with Adobe Aero & Chris Kelly of ProductionCrate.com
Augmented reality is more accessible than ever before. From a visual effects artist's perspective, nothing is more exciting than real-time VFX. Instantaneous tracking, dimensional sound and live-editing are the future of the industry. With @AdobeAero, you're able to do all of that on your iPhone, iPad, and computer!
I wanted to see how far I could take it. Using low-poly 3D models from RenderCrate.com I built out an underwater world.
I worked with my friend Gerardo Garcia Jr. who composed music for the Underwater Orchestra scene.

"For our approach to the music, we wanted to provide distinct melodies and sounds for each coral that when put together, create a dreamy Caribbean symphony. Loops were created for each individual instrument so that they can seamlessly repeat."

It was fun to decide what instruments each piece of coral should be. We would look at them and say 'That looks hollow, maybe it should be steel drums?' or 'These look really brittle, maybe chimes or a kalimba?' and compose the project out that way!
You can walk around the scene, as you get closer to each 'instrument' it will get louder, and they will even sound like they are coming from the correct direction and proximity to wherever you are.

I chose to shoot this at the beach. It's where I find a lot of my inspiration, and was also a nice surreal environment for the AR scene.
