Yonge and Gerrard Spire
The vertical city
A third year studio project, the Yonge and Gerrard Spire is an exploration into creating a mixed use commercial building and conference centre in the heart of downtown Toronto.  The site is at the corner of Yonge St. and Gerrard St., now the site of the Aura tower, beside College Park.  The end result was a two-fold approach to the site: a large, twisting tower with an external structural system, and a multi-sports complex designed to make activities more accessible to youth living in a downtown core and to provide a more active and involved source for entertainment just a short walk from Dundas Square, arguably the busiest pedestrian intersection in the city.
