DESCRIPTION
There are many places in Seoul where their atmosphere is disturbed by old buildings that are positioned at the middle of nowhere. Korea has had its 50 years of drastic development that left the country with promises and visions to future. Yet, unlike how fast the country has developed, the society had struggled to keep up with the pace. The same situation had occurred in terms of buildings. During the 50-year development, buildings were constructed and appeared regardless of locations. This trait lasted until present days and frequently disturbs the town's atmosphere. for the purpose of resolving the problem, I've always thought it was a necessity to reconstruct the buildings. To start the project, I've researched some places in Seoul where the contrast between an old building and skyscrapers was great. The photo of the building below is located in Mokdong, Seoul.
While redesigning the building, I tried to keep its characteristics but also make it be more harmonized with its surrounding buildings.
The picture above is what I've planned before constructing the model. Almost all the aspects in the "old" side were deleted for time reason (which I feel is a shame). There were more problems. After building the "new" side, I found out that the building was tilted. that little tilt had made me be in a struggle when merging the two sides together.

Although this was my first time constructing such things, I am quite satisfied with the result. Through this project, I've learned many skills including net drawing skills, visualizing skills and more. In the future, I would focus more on cutting the parts more precisely so that the building doesn't bend.
