Aims.
Designing a bathroom sink tap which is a combination of chic contemporary design balanced with rustic touches in order to give the user the ultimate lavish feel and a glossy rose gold finish imbuing a sleek tap with a sense of warmth.
Introduction.
People who live in luxurious and crafted hotels prefer a space that brings a sense of understated elegance and feels wonderfully contemporary. Therefore, with solid stainless steel construction and finished in rose gold, this rose gold bathroom tap will bring luxury to the kitchen. This exquisitely designed sink tap will make your bathroom space warm, welcoming, and elegant.
Teardown.
After tearing down an existing mixer tap, we gained a lot of knowledge as to the general assembly and operation of a standard model. The disassembly showed that this model also had an additional dome capping to it which most other models lack. This was quite a heavy-duty model and was well constructed as can be seen from the large pin which extrudes from the mixer and into the handle, which was held in place by a grub screw.
Ideation & Prototyping.
The shape development started with understanding the inside structure of the tap mixer and the existing sink tap. The functional design of the solution was innovative and simple.
Design for Manufacture.
" netto" is made of stainless steel, and is the most widely used material for faucets due to its resistance to soft-water corrosion and hard-water calcification. The stainless steel is received as a bar stock of 3cm in diameter, depending on the size of the water tap. This design considered the requirement of "forging", which adopts hot forging instead of machining since this method can produce a near-net shape in about three seconds with little waste. Only minor machining is required to produce the exact dimensions.
Function of Handle.
The handle rotates with an outer ring around the body of the tap as well as sliding vertically up and down the inner sleeve. This allows the user to achieve a range of different temperatures and water pressures as any regular mixer tap with a separate handle would allow.
Rotatable Spout.
The spout of " netto" can swivel 360, which is installed on a sink, and spin around so the user can access it from the other side of the sink without having to move around to the sink.
