Aim.
Optimising the hairdryer with more flexibility and portability, which can easily fit into travel bags and suitcases.
Introduction.
For a wanderlust, taking along a hairdryer usually is an ever-frustrating issue, its bulky shape and unorganised cord lead them to be averse to neatly fitting in the travel bag. Moreover, storing a hairdryer is not something that is always the most straightforward, with the bulky shape requiring a large void to reside within.
Ideation & Prototyping.
Initial ideation to design a solution kept the space-saving and started to explore more possibilities. Also, making the prototypes could understanding more about the scale of the final product and the ergonomic aspects.
Design Objectives.
A clean simple using way and clear appearance will be easily understood by the user, not over decoration or garish appearance. The material and the shape are incredibly important for users' senses and immediately generate a sense of well-being and gentleness. This design will take in the element of matte grey, which corresponds to people’s understanding of a more low-key luxury hotel and without strongly contrasting colors make the visual sense steadier.
Main Features.
It features storage and portability by applying a rotating handle that has a swiveling 45° miter joint. The handle can go from perpendicular to parallel simply by rotating it, allowing it to occupy minimal space, and this wireless hair dryer can be docked perfectly into its charging base to take on a geometric and more storage-friendly form.
Considering designs that can harmonize in space such as hotel bathrooms, I used a matte dark-grey and simple shape, expressing the beauty and space harmony as a beauty product.
