I took my camera the other day and went looking for anything i could take a picture of. At first i has the idea to go into the MUTHI Market in Durban and just take pictures of the different Muthi they have, i thought it would be a beautiful concept taking pictures of umuthi and having a small description of what it is for and how to use it. I was thinking about how nature is the muthi. However when i did go out with a fellow photographer, I was intrigued by the faces the live with in the city. People who's lives is build by their daily hustle and who unknowing run the economies of the big cities. I met venders who come from the townships and rural areas to create life. i met artists who are experimenting with the spaces the find themselves in. I turned in an instance to their faces and learning their names and stories made me want even more to take the image of their faces with me. I then went on the play around taking self portraits with the help of Byera Karen Ijumba and still the idea of faces lingered and made me understand why i dislike to fact the i can only see someones face it they are 2 meters away form me. I like seeing expression regardless of what it says, I like reading stories off peoples character and what look they might be carrying on their face. i love how faces are constructed and this is just a look at what faces look like.
