I recently challenged myself to be more creative away from the office and needed a project to start the ball rolling.
I love music. I also love posters. In fact, every gig that I go to see I always buy a poster because they are unique and they bring back memories from the concert. That's when I asked the question - Wouldn't it be amazing to create a gig poster for iconic bands/musicians with their most iconic album? What if the poster was designed in a style which could have been sold at one of their concerts?... and so it began.

The poster design is inspired by the unforgettable original artwork of Hipgnosis and George Hardie from the cover sleeve, the original vinyl format of the album, and the meaning of the album.
Everything has been designed in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator with a Wacom Intous Pro tablet and my weapon of choice, a Macbook.
My poster design is inspired by the unforgettable original artwork of Hipgnosis and George Hardie from the cover sleeve (shown above), the original vinyl format of the album, and the meaning of the album.
The main idea for this poster design was to get into the mind of Hipgnosis and Hardie by firstly recreating the world-renound prism artwork in Illustrator, then the sticker. I then created a vinyl record with the original centre label, personalised a few of the details and then overlayed a picture of the moon during an eclipse, showing the dark side of the moon, then combining all three elements to create my own unique poster.
