In a trip to Cyprus, I came across a lot of historical ruins and pieces from the Venetian times of the island. It was an enchanting experience for me. I really loved the quote "Pax Tibi Marce Evangelista Meus" meaning "Peace be with you, Mark, My Evangelist" and the story behind it. The winged lion was a beautiful theme and I wanted to make a sythesis of my inner experience using similar wings as an element as well as the colors and patterns of Mediterranean. Mediterranean region is derived from Medius-Terra, which means the "middle land". Something that reminded me of being always stuck in the middle of everywhere and everything. Eventually I wanted to depict myself as that lioness, stuck in a middle land, between beer and cigarettes, with wings and hanging feet, without a body -an integrity.
