Using Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities and two other voices from secondary sources, to design a multiple page book that contains 3 interacting voices and all the ingredients of a publication. The publication includes 4 chapters from the Invisible Cities with poems and excerpts from The Poetics of Space by Gaston Bachelard.
From my perspective, each city is like a system of beliefs and ideas within each of us. Through different chapters and different cities, different beliefs and philosophy of life within us will be revealed. Each chapter in the publication deals with different phenomenon in life such as the changes in life or the impermanence in life.
From the publication, the play of typographical elements in a consistent typographic grid is evident. The arrangement and placement of texts show how different voices interact with each other and at the same time communicate with the readers.
