It feels like we are witnessing an undoing of foundational American mythology—historical and cultural narratives that strategically obscure institutionalized racism—eclipse our settler colonialist past, the attempted genocide of indigenous people, our nation’s past and continued reliance on marginalized and slave labor.

Humans live through stories, internalize stories—the stories we internalize as truth bear great weight and power in the development of our identity as individuals, as nations. Perhaps this moment is an opportunity for reckoning, for acknowledging and making right broken histories—histories that will continue to be re-invented in perpetuity until they are actively dismantled.
