Girls/Wanderer - Caleb Kopta

Caleb is a total kick-ass rock star and all around cool kid. I usually back him up on drums, but when the time came to release his single Girls, Caleb turned around and asked if I'd be interested in helping out. I responded just like my hero...
"Absolutely, I do."
Caleb immediately sent me some inspiration, and I set out to comp to my hearts content. in the meantime, Caleb tapped the insanely talented Jason Starr and Lydia Daily to photograph and model.
below: a quick comp that was very quickly thrown out (heavily inspired by the poster for My Fair Lady) + some additional comps I played with after the photoshoot.
After the shoot, Caleb and I wrote back and forth discussing direction at greater length. What was shaping up to be one thing pivoted a bit and we landed on something that was heavily rooted in his established brand (with a logo by Jordan Wetherbee), and the addition of a striking red that he (more than I) envisioned from the start. What he described sounded killer, so that's where we went.

These are my favorite kinds of projects to work on; ones with a small team of creative, talented people who stretch your vision further than you thought it could go. Everyone who made this happen were absolute experts. My contribution was admittedly small, but it was an honor to put all their pieces together.
