BRAID HILLS LOCKDOWN
Having prevaricated for far too long about a personal project to document Edinburgh’s Braid Hills I was presented with the perfect kick-up-the-ass when lockdown happened. I’ve been walking there with my dog for several years but rarely had anything other than an old iPhone to capture images through the seasons. Unable to work, I finally chose to start the project in mid-April 2020, concentrating to begin with, on how people are relating to the landscape and observing the social distancing guidelines, and later looking at the environment in isolation.
Usually the preserve of golfers and dog walkers, since lockdown it’s become popular with local families out on their daily exercise. It remains to be seen if that will change when social distancing ends and golf returns.
