Recycling Campaign for Generalitat de Catalunya.
BLUE, GREEN, YELLOW & BROWN. Admit it: recycling is as easy as recognising these four
colours. But we all know humans can “forget” things… So here’s the solution for those
bird-witted people who insist not remembering which kind of waste goes along each
trash can type: these four clear-cut movies will definitely set their recycling knowledge up
to date! (FYI: did you know that corks had to be thrown into the organic?).
Our friends from Snoop Barcelona came by and proposed us to create four films helping
Barcelona’s city council to remind which is the specific utility of each trash can colour to
not only its citizens but also its companies and institutions, considering that all of them
share the same social responsibility to recycle. These spots belonged to a much larger
campaign for Generalitat de Catalunya, consisting in many different actions, both online
and offline.
A grey container isn’t a little-urban landfill: their function is to collect those garbage that
cannot be recycled, so it must not include nor cardboard, neither plastic, glass or organic
waste which belong to the colourful, smart and ecological recycling trash cans.
Through a pretty friendly tone in between colloquial irony and more formal pedagogy,
the voice-over accompanied each of the four spots to introduce every recycling can’s
colour-type. A touch of exaggeration was key to make the Campaign more iconic. We
wanted our artistic proposal to follow such mood and be very straightforward, didactic
and clear, yet also playful and whimsical at the same time.
Searching for a fresh, bold, and a bit DIY look and feel, we combined a great different
media versatility: from 2D and 3D animation to 360º photography and some mobile
camera footage. Deformity and Internet textures along with a shiny odd colour palette
determined the young, trashy style that singularly characterizes the Campaign.
