“Hold Fast ”As an iconographic theme, the anchor or anchor symbol was already used by artists who lived in the areas around the Mediterranean Sea to represent maritime navigation. By keeping a fixed boat at sea, it was also an allegory of hope or salvation. Because it is a weighty mass that retains the ship, the anchor is considered a universal symbol of firmness, solidity, tranquility and fidelity. In the midst of the mobility of the sea (emotions) and the elements, it is what fixes, binds, immobilizes or secures.
