QUARANTINE PHOTOSHOOTS THROUGH FACETIME

--

All the following photos are captures taken while on a FaceTime call, through the iPhone camera.

"Distance is no barrier"

Inspired by international photographers and models, I decided to try this “FaceTime photoshoot” too, while we had to stay in the house. I took it as a challenge, for us, the artists which need to interact with people to create, to put our ideas into practice and make content despite the social distancing.
For the ones who don't understand, during these photoshoots both me and the model were in our own houses. We had a FaceTime call and while putting our ideas into practice, I took some captures of the screen and that is how I got the pictures. I asked the model to place the phone somewhere and pose in front of it, as if I was there, instead of the phone.
I am very thankful to the girls, because they were open to this idea and really enjoyed helping me developing this project.
I believe that we have to keep on creating and doing what we love, despite any impediments. We live in a time when we have all the resources needed to do anything we want. We are so lucky that we lack nothing. When circumstances are not in our favour, we can easily adapt. The lockdown (or anything else) doesn’t mean that we have to give up our passions.
What I really liked about these FaceTime photoshoots is that we were able to create something together, even if in some cases we were more than one thousand kilometers away from each other.
These photoshoots through a phone camera are much more complicated than they seem and the things I needed to focus on have changed. Even though before I focused much more on post processing and skin retouch, for these photoshoots this didn't really matter anymore. They involve a different type of creativity and communication. One of the main obstacles was the fact that my field of vision was limited by the line of sight of the phone’s camera. I couldn't see an inch left or right more than the phone’s camera could and I've never seen in reality the places where the models were. But in fact it was an advantage: I had to put my imagination to the test. I feel like I truly challenged my vision and creativity and I felt that both parts (me as the photographer and the model) were much more implicated.
I think I've said enough, so I'll let the photos continue.
