According to Jung, the ego represents the conscious mind as it comprises the thoughts, memories, and emotions a person is aware of. The ego is largely responsible for feelings of identity and continuity. Like Freud, Jung (1921, 1933) emphasized the importance of the unconscious in relation to personality.

What if there is a way to compute all of one’s phenomenological experiences and to measure consciousness and unconsciousness?

Art therapy - the healing process of therapeutic art for self expression and self healing, has been proven to explore facets of your personality you never knew existed by creating art without judgement.

Through a dream log that I’ve kept for the past 6 years, I will be exploring my conscious and subconscious thoughts in the form of art therapy in hopes of understanding and accepting myself better.

This project aims to guide people like myself who are suffering from depression and anxiety by providing them with tools that they can use in daily life such as grounding and breathing techniques, albeit in a creative way, through the use of art therapy.

The first part of this project focuses on introducing the user to art therapy. The website functions as both a coping mechanism as well as grounds the user by employing techniques such as visualisation and structured breathing. The main objective of the website is to raise awareness of the benefits of art therapy by providing the user with a taste of what it can achieve.

The second part of this project attempts to quantify my personal dream data through art therapy as a method of coping with depression. The project serves as both an exploration of my inner psyche as well as a method to keep my depression in check.

As a method of self improvement, awareness and understanding, this project seeks to visualise personal development and growth. It is the journey that we experiment with, of which it does not matter the destination.

Behind every beautiful thing that exists, therein lies a history of something tragic.
