Nature Conservation Foundation is a non-governmental wildlife conservation and research organisation based in MysoreIndia. They promote the use of science for wildlife conservation in India. Their mission is to carry out 'science-based and socially responsible conservation'.
The connection that we as individuals have to nature arises primarily through first-hand contact with animals and plants; with some kind of wilderness. Can we help make these connections? Once made, can we help nurture and develop them? In their Education and Public Engagement programme, NCF attempts to engage children and adults in ecological observation; and develop, display and distribute nature education material.

I was commissioned to create a set of illustrations to be used as part of their outreach media.

The concepts to be illustrated were:
1. A group of birders out watching birds by a lake
2. A couple of children pointing to and marvelling at a bird
3. A flock of flamingos in the water with a cityscape behind

Above are digital iterations of the concepts

This visual is of Lesser Flamingos flocking to Mumbai to feed and breed. Although they visit every year, there has said to have been a 25% increase this time round due to reduction of human activity during this period of lockdown due to Covid-19.
