Each season, Atlanta Ballet creates a world premiere family-friendly production of a beloved classic ballet. With children & families in mind, these one-hour ballets serve as perfect introductions to dance performance. Atlanta Ballet commissioned illustrator Jade Orlando to create key artwork for Atlanta Ballet 2's production of The Swan Princess, an adaptation of Swan Lake. This illustration is the first in a series of branded initiatives to bring a harmonious style to Atlanta Ballet's world premieres.
My role as art director involved consulting with choreographer Bruce Wells on the production's overall look & feel, illustration & stylistic research, color palette development, creation of initial concept sketches, communication with the commissioned artist, and overall development of a comprehensive approach to branding Atlanta Ballet's family ballet series.
