Halloween Icon Set

Halloween Icon Set - Case Study.
The assignment was to design a set of 12 icons on any topic of my choosing. I chose to design Halloween icons because I personally enjoy the odd symbolism that is associated with the holiday, and I wanted to challenge myself to take classic Halloween symbols and make them more suitable year-round. I wanted to reimagine these holiday-specific images as buttons or stickers that I would see on backpacks and binders on a college campus.
Sketching
I began this project by writing a word list and producing as many ideas as I possibly could. Then, I sifted through and sketched the most promising ideas from the list. Eventually,  the idea came to me to make the icons circular in shape. Sketching out how each object would fit into that mold was extremely helpful to the process.
Drafts
My early drafts were a way for me to put all of my ideas into motion visually and find out what worked and what needed refining. Something I discovered through receiving feedback was that I needed to be careful of my color choices as well as paying attention to the composition of each individual icon.
Final Icon Set
My final icon set is simple, but appealing. It's perfect way to show off love for a quirky and fun holiday without being overbearing.
