Letterpress Printing

As my paper and printing interest, I took a Letterpress Printing Workshop at London Centre for Book Arts in January, 2020.
Here is the story how the letters came out : )
The enterance and welcome paper
Composing room; where we are introduced to the Adana, Vandercook, FAG and Stephenson Blake presses.
Understanding how the letterpress works. Space in the typecase etc.
Then we were asked to design a hand-printed poster using these lead and wooden types.
While I was in London for this workshop - it has a meaning for me - I thought 'London Calling' quote would be fun.
And rather than using the cliche font 'Gill Sans' of this quote, I would like to use a serif font.
After all the set-up part, then the press is inked.  Even the inking process has to be done carefully.
Printing begins...
The final work...
Very happy with the result : )
With this course; we have learnt:
Hand typesetting in both lead and wooden type
Lock up work into a forme
Selecting paper stock
Choosing and mixing inks
Prepare work, order, and print from polymer plates
The correct and safe use of the press
Thank you London Centre Book Arts for organizing such a creative workshop.
