Sound and Sight : A Visual Analogy

Is it possible to see the sound and hear the letter forms ?

A pretty daunting question, isn't it? Well, what if it is true! Communication is a ubiquitous part of our lives. Typography and Music are two such mediums which enables to create conversations that are expressive and emotive in nature. Components of sound and form are present in both medias, thus creating distinct styles of expressions. This makes it more interesting to explore the possibility of visualising music through letterforms.

The project attempts to explore, understand and interpret the individual and combined essence of the Devanagari script and Hindustani Classical music through the lenses of expression, form and meaning. It draws parallel between the two to explore their correlation and exchange of expressions through the scientific phenomena known as ‘Cymatics’.

So, relax and experience the visual delight of sound & form analogy.
