Connections - Original Typeface Design

The typeface entitled Connections was a reflection of a brief that outlined aboriginal           characteristics and culture as the primary influence. The typeface and the     accompanying poster were to be showcased at a Brisbane Exhibition - Spoken:         Celebrating Queensland Languages, thus had to resonate with indigenous heritage. As   there are many cultural alphabets, linguistic and visual symbols that can be converted     into a typeface, Connections was designed using the traditional letter form of the Latin based language alphabet. This also included the set of corresponding numerals and 10 other typographic characters chosen by the designers. The end result was an original typeface that took dense inspiration from aboriginal art and symbols, forming an appealing, legible and memorable design.
The typeface entitled Connections was finalised and published using a program called FontLab. The finished result successfully conveyed the brief of Aboriginal culture, in an engaging, legible and functional typeface.
