FUTURIST WAVE
I had the pleasure to document the whole process of the "Futurist Wave" exhibition in Pingtung, Taiwan , which brought together 23 artist groups from the Paiwan and Rukai Tribe that made us remember about our past, think about our future and move forward.

It was definitely a wonderful experience. I had the pleasure to live for a week in their hometown "Sandimen" in Pingtung, located in the south of Taiwan as I had to film and shoot some interviews (not done by me, as I dont speak fluent chinese, but I was in charge of the filming and choosing locations). Being my first experience working for a big project like this, I would give it a 10, not only for the work I had to do, but for the incredible memories I made, and meeting awesome people during this whole process!!

Here are pictures I chose of some of the artists that participated.
Adan Dalujalung
Is a very quiet artist, but his artworks have a lot to say, especially when he talks about how the smallest of things make a big difference. Most of the time, these little things are the sources of our happiness. To be precise, they give us the purest form of joy.
For him, the little things make great memories.
Nitjan Takivalit
Has a very charismatic and strong personality, making every person in the room feel very welcome and comfortable. In his artworks, Takivalit experiences the discourse between traditional tribal culture and modern civilization.

Lavuras Matilin
Even though he did not speak English at all, and my Chinese was not good enough to express my thoughts, we managed to exchange some words through Google translate and he explained to me that in his artworks he contemplates on the possible rearticulations of tribal culture, modernity and also family. As a fun fact, he told me that he worked in the construction of "Taipei 101"  Financial Center.

Sakuliu Pavavalung
Is an artist with a vast experience with painting and pottery. He is devoted in promoting the arts and education for the aboriginals, moreover to encourage young people to return to strengthen the continuation of their culture. Furthermore, he committed himself to indigenous movement and shaping thoughts, gaining him the honorable aboriginal title of “all-round art master.

Kulele Ruladen
Is very quiet and meticulous while working, as he doesn't want to miss any details. Ruladen's artwork shows the depth of his critical views and self-reflection. He conjures profound observations and questions about the conflict between contemporary society and ethnic issues.
Etan Pavavalung
Sakuliu's younger brother and Co-curator of the exhibition. He is such a warm hearted person, always carrying a smile in his face, and passionate about his work. Etan's art is inspired by Paiwan people's living experience, philosophy and religion. His work offers subjective reflections on his culture, society and eco-systems.
Aluaiy Pulidan
I could perceive she likes to go with the flow, she has an idea in her head, bu tit doesn't stop her from improvising according to what she is feeling. She is very open with ideas and welcomes people to help her. She produces soft sculptures made with colorful  fabrics, inspired by traditional tribal costumes she has known since her childhood.

Pacake Taugadhu
Painting is his major artistic discipline and he does it with the heart of child, revealing his profound affection towards his mother culture.
UNTIL NEXT TIME!!
