Centenas e centenas de ribeirinhos foram desalojados pela instalação da barragem. Um grande número vive precariamente em habitações sociais de péssima qualidade instaladas na periferia de Altamira - Pará.
The river people, called 'ribeirinhos' in the Amazon, have been thrown out of their houses due to the construction of the dam. They now live in shabby neighbourhoods in the outskirts of Altamira, Pará.

Populações quilombolas e ribeirinhas reivindicam os seus direitos como primeiros ocupantes do território. As remoções forçadas de centenas de famílias causaram perturbações sociais e um aumento da violência. Sem surpresa, as mulheres estão no grupo do mais atingidos.

Elijah Mckenzie-Jackson pertence ao movimento Extinction Rebellion, que pretende utilizar a resistência não-violenta para evitar o colapso do clima, deter a perda de biodiversidade e minimizar o risco de extinção humana e colapso ecológico. O objetivo da Extinction Rebellion é o exercício de pressão sobre os governantes e o público para aumentar a conscientização sobre a crise climática.
Elijah Mckenzie-Jackson belongs to the Extinction Rebellion movement, which aims to use non-violent resistance to prevent the collapse of the climate, stop the loss of biodiversity and minimize the risk of human extinction and ecological collapse. The purpose of Extinction Rebellion is to put pressure on governments and the public to raise awareness of the climate crisis.
