Zone is a concept for an organic line of hair and skincare products inspired by the Pelagic Zones of the ocean.  Each product uses Seaweed as a key ingredient because it is rich in Omega-3 fiber, antioxidants, iodine, & other vitamins & minerals that an average diet sometimes lack. The natural oils found in seaweed & algae are extremely useful for protecting skin. Working on this concept required a lot of research about the ocean and the natural ingredients within it that could benefit one’s health. After coming up with the initial idea, I spent days researching different creatures that could be found in each zone of the ocean to decide which ones to include on the different bottles. 

I love experimenting by combining my traditional and digital skills and I wanted to incorporate watercolor into this piece because it felt thematic. I did a gradient wash to mimic the shore all the way to the darkest parts of the ocean which I used as the base for my packaging. The logo design features a life preserver which is symbolic of the healthy and natural ingredients used to protect skin and hair. I decided to go with a Sailor Jerry Tattoo art style for my illustrations to give the brand a whimsical, yet mature feeling which would appeal to my target demographic.

This concept was created for the annual ICMAD young designers competition and was recognized as a finalist for 2019.
