Children's Wear Patterns inspired by Alexander Calder

These are a series of patterns inspired by Alexander Calder, for an assignment of creating a series of patterns inspired by a piece in the “Subject to Change” exhibit at the Rhode Island School of Design Museum.
Calder’s mobiles were the initial source, but research and exploration led to his paintings, jewelry and sketches. The organic quality to his forms was particularly inspirational - how the lines and forms began to resemble plants.
His sketches of the circus and celebrities, specifically of Josephine Baker, also played a key role in the the pattern of “Swing Dancers”.
